Phones

I have come to the conclusion that the Aspie's dislike of loud noises manifests in me in the sound of the telephone ringing, particularly the sound of a landline phone. Some people can sleep through that sound, but if the land phone rings and I am asleep, I will wake up every time. This goes hand in hand with my dislike of alarm clock rings. I usually put my alarm clock on the radio to wake up, because if it is on the alarm, when it goes off I will almost leap above my bed with my arms flung out as if a bomb just went off. It is highly underpleasant. Strangely though, I have no problem with the noise of trains (we regularly have trains go by just miles from our house) or with vacuums or airplanes. Car horns though, screaming babies, and shrieking teenagers really hurt my ears.

2012 is looking interesting so far!

Well, much has happened since I was last here! My life is full of exciting things. I have been back in Washington State pending immigration issues since late December of last year. As difficult as it was to leave Quebec, I hope to be back there in one year, and I maintain the faith that God yet has things for me to do here during my remaining stay in this state. I have been attending a Wednesday night Bible study at my parents' church. We have been going through a video series on the last days of Jesus, I have learned so much about first century Jerusalem and what it was like for Jesus there. Having a map of what the city looked like at that time greatly helped our understanding of it, me in particular, since I am a very visual person.

This has also been the year for me to take better care of my health. Through prayer and lots and lots of help from God, I have been trying to eat and sleep much better. With my anxiety struggles, this is critical. I've stopped drinking pop and I now drink water and other healthy drinks. I have also worked at simplifying my environment/work area, getting rid of clutter and things I just don't need. I have found that it reduces my stress by having an area that is clean and pleasing to look at.

I have started writing my book, which is a fictional fantasy story set on an aquatic world. The gist of the story is that one continent which knows about Jesus, shares with another, warlike continent which does not. So far I have written just a few chapters.

To my followers:

I am keeping this blog since I have had it longer. I would like to integrate the newer blog into this one, but what will happen with that one remains to be seen. Regardless, this blog is not going anywhere.
